Norfolk Days

I've had a few recent trips to Norfolk with a few good birds along the way, this post is a bit of a catch up...

I went a few weeks a go and saw bluethroat (not a great pic but a great bird!):On this same day there was a decent fall of whinchat, I saw over 10:On the next Norfolk trip I went with 3 mates and we saw some great rarities and had a nice photography session.

Best bird of the weekend was the arctic warbler at Holme:We also saw red-necked phal, pom skua, wryneck, lapland bunting and pied fly.

Before we left for home we had a walk along the beach at Cley and Salthouse, at both sites there were arctic waders fresh in and having never seen people they were very confiding...

Mallorca 2010

I spent a week in Mallorca at the end of August and although it wasn't a birding holiday I managed to get out in the evenings to do some local photography. The most common bird by far around the apartment was spotted flycatcher with several adults feeding fledged young. I spent lots of time trying to get a different array of photos;

Making short work of a wasp...

I also had lots of sightings of Hoopoe and Sardinian warbler but only manged pictures of the latter;

male:female:
Serins were elusive but could always be heard nearby:
There we some interesting invertibrates about too including this cool looking spider, horrendous wasp and locust nymph;
